Yosemite in Extreme Detail

So I might be a little slow in hearing about this project - but what a project! You'll need Silverlight to view the final result but it's worth the install if you don't have that installed yet.
Just keep zooming into the map and then keep zooming into one of the images, say from Lower Cathedral Summit, all the way until you count the climbers on the Nose of El Capitan...

How did they do this? How can the image be so in focus at every zoom in?

Well there are two things at play here: Firstly is the amazing high resolution imagery - digitally stitched images to make the huge panoramas. Secondly the Sliverlight plugin which is like Flash - just loading the appropriate data as you zoom in.
The images are huge naturally...
