Winter storm with snow in Julian
December 13, 2007
So the first thing I thought of when I heard another winter storm was coming last week was "snow". And what better place to take folks than Julian!
So it was off to Julian we went on Saturday via a long detour since Caltrans closed the 78 between San Pasqual Valley and Ramona. A lovely drive all the same through the Highland Valley area, and then on up to Julian. Rain fell as we drove, stretching forth an eerie hand over the landscape as we drove beside twisted and charred trees, burned out buildings, melted plastic fences, and made our way up to Julian.
As we approached 4000', I was starting to doubt we'd be seeing snow seeing as all we were seeing was rain at that point. Thankfully, it did get colder, and snow fell as we wandered around the town.
And with snow comes snowballs! I didn't throw the first snowball, that was Shane and Liss who snuck off down an alley as we were all walking along Main Street. We both raced around the back of the alley where Ang distracted them beautifully as I ran back around and hurled my snowballs scoring direct hits. Super fun, and super cold on the hands.

Hmmm, you make it sound like my hits in the snowball fight weren't direct. :) I made my share of good hits! You've done a wonderful job on the pictures and article as usual, my love.
