Wild Animal Friday

April 14, 2008

As I wandered out to the car on Friday afternoon, it occurred to me that today was a rather hot day. Indeed, a very hot afternoon to be heading to the Wild Animal Park in Escondido with my wife and my nieces. Still, I'd promised we'd be going this afternoon, and so off I went to pick them up. They were waiting, all ready for the adventure and no doubt happy to get out of the house. We piled into the car, and set off down the road and into yet more heat. It's only April so really it ought not be this hot, but there you have it - heat is a way of life at any time of the year in Southern California. I did briefly wonder how Shane & Melissa were getting on out near Barstow at Camp Ironwood, but that thought vanished just as quickly as it had come with the nieces begging my attention. So attention they received.

Here are a few select shots from a fun time at the park. Naturally we stayed in the shade as much as possible, and discovered the Discovery Station where they had a wonderful fun time coloring themselves in.
