The Honeymooners - a book project

October 13, 2007

Last year, on June 10, I married the most beautiful lady on the planet.

We had such an amazing honeymoon following our wedding. First we spent 10 days in an amazing cottage in Maui, Hawaii (link on the right). This cottage was so inspring: nestled away on a secluded four acres, at about 3000', the views were something to die for. Waking every morning to the warm soft glow of the rising sun was something to treasure forever. Highly recommended.

After exploring Maui and keeping away from the main tourist spots, we headed back to Alabama and then on down to Pensacola, Florida for a quick visit there before embarking on part two of the honeymoon: Camping in National Parks on our way out to California. We drove fairly quickly through to Colordao where our first National Park was Great Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado. Of course I got Ang to hike to the top of the tallest dune! She hated me for that. Oh well. Continuing on through quite a few more National Parks in Colorado and Utah, all the while shooting with my 4x5" view camera Black and White and Color images as we went. Our last stop was the North Rim campground at Grand Ganyon National Park where we stayed for three wonderful days. The thunderstorm and lightning show on our last night there was spectacular. We're booked in for some winter shooting at the South Rim mid-winter which we're super excited about. I really enjoy winter photography in the outdoors, and I know you'll all love the images we're planning to get at the South Rim.

Back to the honeymoon: this was totally an amazing honeymoon, and one we'll cherish forever. I think it's really worth it to go for as big a honeymoon as you can afford. I was away from California for five weeks! Here is our fine-art album from that adventure. We hope you enjoy it.

Enjoy The Honeymooners.

What a great album Richard and a wonderful reminder of your honeymoon. We certainly don't have any record like that of our honeymoom nearly 37 years ago!
I especially like the dramatic scenes on Angels Landing. Remember you making a movie of me climbing cautiously down off the top on our special holiday with you in October 2005.
